About me

I’m an existential psychotherapist, supervisor, and doctoral researcher exploring women’s experiences of end-of-life decision-making. My work is rooted in helping people navigate intense, complex, and life-changing experiences. I offer a grounded, supportive space to reflect, heal, and integrate — with honesty, compassion, and real conversation.

I hold a Master of Professional Practice (MProf) in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling from the New School of Psychotherapy and Counselling (NSPC) and Middlesex University, and am currently completing my doctorate there.

As an accredited psychotherapist with the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I bring both depth and rigour to my work.

Working integratively, I draw from existential, person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, mindfulness, and positive psychology approaches. When useful, I also bring in existential coaching to help clients clarify choices, access their own resources, and build momentum toward meaningful change.

MarcieBoyerTherapy

I believe therapy can be a powerful space for making sense of life when life stops making sense.

Research Focus

Alongside my clinical work, my doctoral research explores women’s experiences of making end-of-life decisions for their mothers after a sudden health crisis.

This is deeply personal work — giving voice to daughters who have carried end-of-life responsibility for their mothers, and exploring the meanings that may emerge afterwards.

My Path Here

Alongside my private practice, which I established in 2018, I was Senior Service Manager/Clinical Lead for two years at Sussex Community Counselling at SCDA, a BACP-accredited service supporting people affected by domestic abuse, suicide bereavement, and survivors of suicide.

Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked in equality and diversity at the University of Brighton, supporting inclusion across gender, race, disability, and LGBTQ+ communities.

In the US, I founded a fair-trade retail business supporting women’s economic empowerment through ethical trade — a mission that continues today, more than two decades later, under new ownership. I also worked for the State of Connecticut as a Small Business Development Advisor with the SBDC and developed regulated IT systems for Pfizer. I hold a BBA in Finance and Investments from Baruch College, City University of New York.

My earlier career across both the UK and US continues to inform my work with responsibility, leadership, identity, culture, immigration, and major life transitions.
